Applications of Optimization - Best Practice and Challenges

On January 21, 2010, the Danish Operations Research Society is pleased to introduce the full day workshop Applications of Optimization - Best Practice and Challenges. The workshop is targeted at decision makers considering adopting quantitative optimization methods in their business processes as well as managers and practitioners who seek input to ongoing projects.

The purpose of the workshop is to highlight some of the main challenges faced by organizations seeking to adopt quantitative optimization methods in their business processes. The workshop will focus on presenting the subject of business optimization in a non-technical manner.

The 2010 workshop offers exciting contributions within Health Care, the Shipping Industry and the Energy Sector. We also present one of the worlds leading providers of optimization software solutions, who will present cases and discuss the challenges faced. Furthermore, we offer interesting contributions from representatives of two of the country’s largest Business Optimization groups (DONG Energy and DSB S-tog) presenting their view on benefits of Business Optimization in companies and why investments in such specialized teams are returned.

Each talk will be followed by a brief discussion session allowing you to get input on current challenges you might currently be facing or otherwise seek additional details on specific aspects of the presented topic.

The workshop especially addresses the decision makers and analytic personnel in companies starting or already working on optimization projects. Many of the aspects concerning e.g. problem modeling or end user involvement, even though they differ in main subject, face the same challenges from company to company.

We hope that this workshop will bring people from the different companies together to be inspired by the talks on how others put optimization projects to life and to discuss in general how they can improve on business optimization.

Further details regarding the individual talks can be found in the Program.

Registration for the workshop is no longer possible!
